Collection: Faux Locs Wigs

A faux locs wig gives you the soft, textured look of goddess or butterfly locs without a long install. The locs are crocheted or braided onto a lace cap, so you get the full style in minutes and take it off at night.

Faux locs styles

  • Goddess locs: smooth locs with curly ends, often mixed with passion twists for a boho finish.
  • Butterfly locs: distressed locs with small loops along the length, light and full of texture.
  • Knotless faux locs: locs that start flat at the root for a cleaner parting.
  • Bob faux locs: 12 to 14 inch styles that are light and quick to wear.
  • Long faux locs: 26 to 40 inch styles, some with box braids or Senegalese twists.

Colours include natural black, ombre brown, 613 blonde, 99J burgundy, copper red and orange.

Faux locs, goddess locs, butterfly locs or dreadlocks?

Faux locs are smooth and even. Goddess locs add loose curls at the ends. Butterfly locs are distressed, with a textured, looped look. Dreadlock wigs lean toward the matte, natural look of real locs. See our goddess locs wigs and dreadlock wigs, or read goddess locs wig guide and faux locs vs dreadlock wigs.

Lace front, full lace or headband?

A lace front faux locs wig has lace at the hairline and often pre plucked baby hair, so the front looks natural. A full lace cap has lace all over, so you part the locs anywhere and wear a high bun or ponytail. A 360 lace cap has lace all around the head. A crochet or headband wig has no lace and is the fastest to put on.

How long should faux locs be?

Bobs of 12 to 14 inches are light and easy for work. Mid lengths of 22 to 26 inches fall past the shoulders. Long styles of 32 to 40 inches are dramatic but heavier, so look for full lace with adjustable straps.

Faux locs wig vs installed faux locs

Installed faux locs take four to eight hours and stay in for weeks. A wig gives you the same look with no tension on your edges, and you switch between locs, braids and your own hair whenever you like.

Check the fibre grade

Each product page lists the fibre. High temperature synthetic takes the hot water setting for the ends. Low temperature fibre does not, so keep heat tools away from it. Read wig fibres explained before you style.

Care

  • Store it on a wig stand so the locs keep their shape.
  • Wash rarely, in cool water with a mild shampoo, and air dry fully. Locs hold water and dry slowly.
  • Refresh curly ends with a little water and mousse.
  • At night, remove the wig or wrap it in a satin bonnet.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between faux locs and dreadlocks?

Faux locs are a softer, styled version of locs with wrapped or crocheted fibre and curly or looped ends. Dreadlock wigs lean toward the matte, textured look of natural locs. See our dreadlock wigs for that style.

Is a faux locs wig glueless?

Most caps here have adjustable straps and combs, so you wear them without glue. Check each product page for cap details.

How natural does a faux locs wig look?

Lace front and full lace caps give a natural hairline. Locs of varied thickness, like butterfly and goddess locs, look less uniform and more natural. Blending the lace at the edges finishes the look.

Are faux locs wigs heavy?

Locs carry more fibre than braids, so 32 inch and longer styles feel heavier. Bobs, crochet and headband styles are lighter.

Should I sleep in a faux locs wig?

It is better not to. Sleeping in a wig adds friction and tangles the locs. Take it off at night and store it on a stand, or cover it with a satin bonnet.
