Knotless vs traditional box braids

Traditional box braids start with a knot of extension hair at the root. Knotless braids feed the hair in gradually, so the base is flat and flexible. On a wig, that means a flatter hairline, less weight at the front and braids that move more naturally.

How to choose your length

Bob lengths (10 to 16 inches) are light and easy for everyday wear. Mid lengths (24 to 28 inches) sit at the mid back. Long styles (32 to 36 inches) give the full, dramatic look but weigh more, so choose full lace if you plan to wear them up.

Caring for a knotless braided wig

  • Store it on a wig stand or mannequin head so the braids keep their shape.
  • Rinse in cool water with a mild shampoo only when needed, then let it air dry on the stand.
  • Most braided wigs here use synthetic Kanekalon-type fibre. Use low heat only, and only where the listing says the fibre is heat resistant.
  • Smooth frizz with a light mousse rather than oil, which can weigh the braids down.

How long does a knotless braided wig last?

With regular wear and gentle care, a synthetic braided wig usually lasts several months. Storing it on a stand and washing it rarely makes the biggest difference.
