Collezione: Box Braided Wigs

A box braid wig gives you neat, square-parted box braids in minutes instead of a six-hour install. The braids are made by hand on a lace cap, so the parts look like scalp and the style lasts through months of wear.

Box braid wig styles

  • Small and micro box braids: fine braids with lots of movement, closest to a fresh salon install.
  • Medium and jumbo box braids: bolder braids that are quicker to style and lighter for their length.
  • Knotless box braids: braids that start flat at the root. See our knotless braided wigs.
  • Boho box braids: braids with curly or wavy strands left out for a softer look.
  • Box braid bobs: 12 to 16 inch styles, some with beads or curly ends.

Colours include natural black (1B), #27 honey blonde, #30 auburn, #350 ginger, 613 blonde, 99J burgundy, red and ombre blends.

Lace caps explained

A 4x4 or 5x5 closure has lace at the parting only. A 13x4 lace front covers the whole hairline for a natural edge. A 360 or full lace cap lets you part anywhere and wear the braids up. If you want a high ponytail or bun, choose full lace.

How long should my box braids be?

Shoulder to bob length (12 to 16 inches) is light and easy for work. Mid back (24 to 28 inches) is the most popular. Waist length (30 to 36 inches) is dramatic but heavier, so look for full lace with adjustable straps.

Box braids vs knotless braids

Box braids start from a small knot at the root and stay uniform. Knotless braids start flat. Both are on offer here. Read box braid wig vs knotless braided wig to choose, or browse boho knotless braided wigs for knotless braids with loose curls.

Synthetic or human hair

Most box braid wigs here use synthetic fibre. A few use human hair, which costs more and takes more heat. Each product page lists the fibre. High temperature synthetic fibre takes the hot water setting, which seals the braid ends. Low temperature fibre does not. Read our fibre, heat and care guide before you style.

Care

  • Keep the wig on a stand between wears.
  • Wash only when needed, in cool water with a mild shampoo, then air dry.
  • Smooth frizz with mousse. Trim stray fibres rather than pulling them.
  • Use low heat only where the listing says the fibre is heat resistant.

Frequently asked questions

Are box braid wigs heavy?

Short and medium lengths feel light. Long, small braids carry the most fibre, so a 36 inch micro braid wig is the heaviest option.

Can I wear a box braid wig every day?

Yes. A braided wig works well as a daily protective style. Rotating two wigs helps each one last longer.

Human hair or synthetic?

Most box braid wigs use synthetic braiding fibre such as Kanekalon, the same fibre braiders use in salons. See Kanekalon braided wigs.

Do box braid wigs work in a ponytail?

Yes, on a full lace or 360 lace cap. A lace front only has lace at the front, so the back edge shows in a high ponytail.

Do I need glue to wear one?

Most caps here have adjustable straps and combs, so you wear them without glue. Check the cap details on each product page.

Should I sleep in a box braid wig?

It is better not to. Sleeping in a wig adds friction and tangles the braids. Take it off at night and store it on a stand, or cover it with a satin bonnet.

How often should I wash a box braid wig?

Wash it only when it needs it, about every 2 to 3 weeks for daily wear. Use cool water and a mild shampoo and let it air dry on a stand.
