Collezione: Dreadlock Wigs

A dreadlock wig gives you a full head of locs in minutes, with no starter locs, no months of maintenance and no tension on your own hair. Every dreads wig here has the locs already installed on a cap. You put it on, adjust the straps and go.

Dreadlock wig styles

  • Short afro dreadlock wigs: 4 to 16 inch locs with curly or twisted ends. Light, easy and good for everyday wear.
  • Butterfly locs and goddess locs: softer, distressed locs with loops or curly ends for a boho look.
  • Long faux dreads: 24 to 40 inch locs, often mixed with knotless braids or passion twists.
  • Colour locs: copper red, burgundy, ginger, blue and ombre brown as well as natural black.

Faux locs, goddess locs or butterfly locs?

The difference is texture and finish. Faux locs are smooth and even, a clean look like freshly installed locs. Goddess locs have loose curls at the ends for a softer, boho finish. Butterfly locs are distressed, with a textured, slightly messy look. If you want the closest match to classic dreadlocks, start with faux locs. If you want movement at the ends, choose goddess locs. See our goddess locs wigs and the goddess locs wig guide.

Choosing a cap

A lace front dreadlock wig has lace at the hairline, so the front looks natural with the locs falling back. A full lace wig lets you part the locs anywhere and tie them up. A crochet or headband wig skips lace and is the fastest to put on. Most caps here are average size with adjustable straps. Check the cap line on each product page.

Human hair or synthetic locs

Most wigs here use synthetic fibre that looks like matte, textured locs. A few use human hair. Synthetic wigs cost less. Human hair locs cost more. The fibre is listed on each product page.

Check the fibre grade before you heat

Each product page lists the fibre. High temperature synthetic fibre works with the hot water setting. Low temperature fibre does not, so keep heat tools away from it. Read our fibre, heat and care guide before you style.

Real dreadlocks vs a dreadlock wig

Real locs take months to form and years to grow long. A wig lets you try the style first, switch lengths and colours, and protect your own hair underneath. Read faux locs vs dreadlock wigs for the full comparison.

Care

  • Keep the wig on a stand so the locs hang straight.
  • Wash rarely, in cool water with a mild shampoo, and let it air dry fully. Locs hold water and take longer to dry than braids.
  • Use a light spray to refresh, not heavy oils.
  • Separate any locs that start to tangle at the root with your fingers.
  • At night, remove the wig or wrap it in a satin bonnet. Sleeping in it adds friction and tangles.

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell dreadlock wigs for women and men?

Most styles here are cut and sized for women. Shorter afro locs and the twist styles also suit men. Check the cap size on each product page.

How natural does a dreadlock wig look?

Lace front and full lace caps give a natural hairline. Locs that vary in thickness and finish, such as butterfly and goddess locs, look less uniform and more natural. Placement of the lace and how you blend the edges decide the rest.

Are these dreadlock wigs good for costumes?

They are made for everyday wear, so they look far more natural than a costume wig. Short synthetic styles start under $120.

How heavy is a long dreadlock wig?

Locs carry more fibre than braids, so 30 inch and longer styles feel heavier. If weight matters, choose a shorter length or a crochet cap.

Should I sleep in a dreadlock wig?

It is better not to. Sleeping in a wig tangles the locs and strains the lace. Take it off at night and store it on a stand, or cover it with a satin bonnet.

How often should I wash a dreadlock wig?

For daily wear, wash it every 2 to 3 weeks. For occasional wear, once a month is enough. Use cool water and a mild shampoo and let it air dry on a stand.
